STEAM Updates

In STEAM, grade levels K-4 just finished a four-week-long project. This project included a science experiment where students' engineering skills were put to the test. They created a prototype through the use of collaboration, redesigning decisions, and critical thinking skills.

Third grade students tested barriers they built. The materials for the barriers were based on the results of their science experiments. The overall objective was to build a barrier strong enough to keep a vehicle traveling at different speeds from moving the barrier.

Students then used their creative and critical thinking skills to build a replica of a picture. Great learning is happening here!

Students Learned About the States and Properties of Matter via Root Beer

Second grade students have been learning about the states and properties of matter. To celebrate the end of the unit, students enjoyed root beer floats to illustrate how a solid, liquid, and gas can all deliciously appear in the same cup!

The Dosti "Bears" Embracing the Spirit of Fall

Dosti House held a fun afternoon gathering with Dosti friends. The Dosti "Bears" had a wonderful time embracing the spirit of fall during our annual Dostie Ghostie event.

During the event, students showcased their artistic talents by crafting adorable pumpkins and spiders using pipe cleaners and other craft materials. The afternoon was filled with laughter and camaraderie as students worked collaboratively on their projects, sharing ideas, and encouraging one another. The celebration included singing, dancing and plenty of opportunities for creative expression, reminding us all of the power of working together and having fun as a community.

The energy and enthusiasm displayed by our Dosti friends made this event truly special. As we transition into the cooler months, we're already buzzing with excitement for what's ahead. Mark your calendars for our next Big Event - Friendsgiving in November - where we'll gather once again to share gratitude, friendship, and celebrate together.

Heritage Futbol Club

On Thursday, October 15, the HMS Futbol Club had the unique opportunity to attend a high-level collegiate soccer match at Chicago State University. Our soccer players not only watched; they also participated in the pre-game ceremonies and were able to "take some shots on goal" during halftime. It was a great experience for our Club! Big shout-out to CSU for having us!
