As a public school system, we welcome all students who live within the Sunnybrook 171 boundaries and meet state age and health requirements. For specific enrollment information please look through the information below. If you have addtional questions please contact the main office at Nathan Hale for children in grades PreK - 4th Grade or Heritage for children in grades 5th - 8th. If you need to find out which school your child will attend, please use the School Finder to look up the attendance boundaries for your address.
Enrollment can be initiated by a parent, legal guardian, or an authorized representative of the student. Please ensure that all required documentation is provided to complete the enrollment process.
Sunnybrook School District #171 requires residency verification annually for ALL students. Parents/guardians must bring residency documents to the school when registering their child.

All of the above must show the current address within School District #171 boundaries. Please understand that no student, regardless of how long he/she has resided in the district, will be allowed to register or attend class until the verification documents have been received. If the students show up on the first day of school without having been registered, they will be sent home. Illegally enrolling your child in a school is a class c misdemeanor. The District reserves the right to ask for additional documentation for proof of residency at any time.

An affidavit of residency may be used if you are an adult who has assumed responsibility for a pupil and provide the pupil with a fixed, night-time abode, for reasons other than access to the education programs of the school district. This should not be used, however, if you are natural or adoptive parents of the pupil, have been granted court-ordered custody or guardianship, or are receiving public aid on behalf of the pupil. Note: Providing false information on a affidavit of residency is a Class C misdemeanor.

In Illinois children must be 5 years of age by September 1st to enroll in Kindergarten for that school year.
