Sunnybrook School Distirct 171 Business Office handles all financial transactions for the district including budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting, investing, equipment inventory, insurance, financial compliance, and financial reporting. The Business Office staff prides itself on accurate and timely financial reporting and accountability for taxpayer funds.

Mr. David Shrader, Chief School Buisness Offical

 
David Shrader has been a dedicated Chief School Business Official at Sunnybrook SD171 since 2015, specializing in financial planning, budgeting, and resource management to support student success. In addition to overseeing school finances, he manages Food Service, Human Resources, Transportation, and Facilities & Maintenance, ensuring efficient operations across multiple departments.
 

Prior to this role, he spent 21 years at Thornton Fractional North High School, serving as a teacher, coach, dean, union president, and assistant principal. His leadership and commitment to education were shaped by his diverse experiences in both the classroom and administration.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Indiana University, as well as a Master’s degree in School Administration from Chicago State University. Additionally, he earned his CSBO endorsement from Governors State University and is a licensed CPA.

Before transitioning into education, he began his career as an auditor with Grant Thornton, building a strong foundation in finance and accounting that continues to guide his work in school business operations.
