COVID & Omicron

As we return to school, from the Holiday, we continue to fight Coronavirus. The fight has now intensified with the addition of the Omicron variant. The Omicron variant likely will spread more easily than the original SARS-CoV-2 virus and how easily Omicron spreads compared to Delta remains unknown. Due to the high transmission of COVID we now have to rule out COVID first. Our best weapons to fight Omicron are the following:

Vaccines- COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. It is recommended that everyone 5 years and older protect themselves from COVID-19 by getting fully vaccinated.

Masking- It is recommend wearing a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high community transmission, regardless of vaccination status.

Testing- NAAT and antigen tests can only tell you if you have a current infection and are lab tests

-Self-tests can be used at home or anywhere, are easy to use, and produce rapid results.

IF you have any doubt about any home test results please consult your health care provider, school nurse, or public health official. If there is a any doubt about a positive result please refrain from sending your student to school and contact us immediately.
