About Mrs. Chiaramonte

This is my 20th year teaching Special Education students in School District 171. It's my 26th year teaching. I graduated from Western Illinois University and have a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from Chicago State University.  I've completed training in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction which I use to teach Phonics, Reading and Spelling. This year I'm using many of the techniques I learned this summer at the AVID training seminar I attended. In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time with family and friends.

About This Class:
I teach an ELA Writing, ELA Reading and a Math class to students who need instruction in a small class environment. I also co-teach Math with Mr. Brown and ELA Writing with Ms. Hansel. In those classes, I augment the instruction by presenting the classwork in a way that my students can understand. I also adapt student work and tests for students who may need help with spelling, reading, writing or math. Each child has individual needs and I try to meet those needs to make each child successful in 5th grade.
