CLASS DESCRIPTION

In my math class, we will focus on the Common Core State Standards of Mathematics (CCSSM) and following the 8 Mathematical Practices:
  1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
  2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
  3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
  4. Model with mathematics.
  5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
  6. Attend to precision.
  7. Look for and make use of structure.
  8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
The textbook series that we will use is titled, "Connected Mathematics Project 3", or CMP3 for short. The specific books that we will cover this year are: 
  1. Thinking With Mathematical Models (TWMM)
  2. Looking for Pythagoras (LFP)
  3. Growing, Growing, Growing (GGG)
  4. Butterflies, Pinwheels, and Wallpaper (BPW)
  5. Say It With Symbols (SIWS)
